"Even before arrival I felt welcome. Exceptional host and hostess who live in this beautiful property. I could not ask for more. I didn't know when I booked that the host and hostess are experts in the history of the two world wars. Without their help and advice I was blindly seeking to 'connect' with my grandfather whose body was never identified in WW1.. I was able to see the probable area where my grandfather was last seen fighting the Germans. The property location is in a quiet farming community and it has a vast library to peruse in comfort in your quest for battle information. The breakfast is as the French enjoy (as did I). An offer of an afternoon brew and delicious cake after a days foraging was an unexpected treat. The hostess can provide evening meals on request."

"The location is in a lovely quiet and friendly village, close to all the sightseeing places we wanted to go. John and Jennie made us feel very welcome and made our stay very enjoyable. Jennie would ensure we had everything we needed. I liked how the villagers were also friendly, would say good morning and occasionally make conversation."

"the silent picket is located amidst a quaint french village, with lovely garden and superb indoor facilities. A fantastic resource library for research about the first and second world war and especially the local war cemeteries . Dinner cooked by co host Jenny was excellent and great value for money, and breakfast was an exceptional start to the day. the bedroom was spacey and the bed was very comfortable. The ensuite was well fitted and also a good size. The silent picket is delightfully hosted by John and Jenny."

"Mijn zoon en ik verbleven 3 nachten bij Silent Picket. We werden allervriendelijkst ontvangen door Jennie met thee en cake. Jennie geeft goede adviezen aangaande de bezienswaardigheden in de Somme. De eetzaal/bibliotheek is een geweldige plek in het huis om te verblijven; bomvol boeken en andere items die over de Great War gaan. Ik zou deze plaats zeker aanraden als uitgangspunt voor je ontdekkingstocht over het slagveld van de Somme."

"Bij aankomst werden we overweldigd door de vriendelijkheid van de verhuurders en het volledig ingerichte huis in de stijl van de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Daarnaast kregen we veel tips en informatie over de activiteiten in de buurt. Elke ochtend werden we ontvangen met een heerlijk ontbijt. Tot slot ligt het verblijf op een centrale plek in de buurt van alle musea/ monumenten & begraafplaatsen van de slag aan de Somme."
